An exceptional site between Béziers and the Mediterranean
A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996, the Canal du Midi is a masterpiece of engineering that is more than 300 years old. Designed by Pierre-Paul Riquet under the reign of Louis XIV, it connects Toulouse to Sète through the varied landscapes of the south of France. This 240 km long canal made it possible to avoid the long and perilous circumvention of the Iberian Peninsula.
Today, it is a hotspot for river tourism and a paradise for lovers of cycling, hiking and gentle boating.
